Watch for a “Scenic Byway” sign, and turn left onto a dirt road (Smithsonian Butte Rd.) Three miles later, just as you reach the mountain, the Gooseberry Mesa road turns off on your left. Another 3.6 miles after the turnoff, take the right fork at the outhouse. Stay on this road until it ends at the mesa’s edge. Grafton Mesa Aid (miles 37.3 and 52)- From the Goosebump aid station, backtrack to Smithsonian Butte road (about 5 miles). Turn left and go just over a mile to the Grafton Mesa aid station. If coming from the Start/Finish Line in Virgin, drive east on Hwy 9 towards the main entrance to Zion National Park. After driving ten miles, you’ll turn right on Bridge Road (200E) in Rockville. After crossing the bridge you’ll stay on the paved road for a mile and a half to the crew access point, which the runners will pass through twice (miles 41 and 47). Please don’t drive along Mesa road (across from Sheep’s Bridge road) if you’re going to access this aid station. It is a narrow road and we want to reduce traffic for the exhausted runners. GPS coordinates: 37°12’55.46″N 113°12’32.65″W
What are the GPS coordinates for Camino del Rio Crew Access? Also, is there a quick way to get to this crew access from Goosebump or do we have to drive all the way around to the start first?
Thanks for catching that. Coordinates are up. There is no other way besides driving all the way around to the finish line area. It’s a real pain in the arse to get there driving. It’s as quick to run up onto Gooseberry from Virgin as it is to drive around- each takes about 45 minutes. Coming down is obviously much quicker. If your crew is at Goosebump, they probably won’t catch you at Camino del Rio.
