Click here to register for the 2014 Zion 100!
Any word on the 2014 date? I have to plan vacation a long way in advance–any info would be great.
Not yet. We’ll see how this year goes. We want to be able to adapt until we get it right. Numbers are down this year and we may move it forward on the calendar if it’s too hot again. We’ll send out and post a survey so that runners can weigh in on the matter.
Will buckles be given to 100 mile finishers that take advantage of the early start option?
Have you had many flatlanders run Zion 100? I am from Louisiana and would love to run it and was wondering how people from sea level are affected at the altitude ranges in that area. Any feedback or observations?
We have had flatlanders a plenty and it’s hard for me to say what is the most difficult challenge of the race- my observation would be that the terrain is a bigger challenge than the altitude (slickrock and uneven surfaces, very steep ascents/descents on and off the mesas, etc.)
Thanks. Elevations are not too high there. I was just curious. I’ve spent a lot of time in Bryce/Zion/Esclante and can definitely understand how the surface can be a challenge in a race environment. Any particular kind of shoe work well on that surface? Not much can be done about slick rock.
I’m planning on being there next year. Look forward to returning to southern Utah. Gorgeous area!
