This is a page where runners that are travelling from afar can request a local volunteer pacer to join them on part of the run.
Last year we were only able to match up about 75% of pacer requests. I was involved in that “matching up” process in 2012 and it took a lot of time away from more important things that needed to be done in preparation for the race. This year, we are going to offer this page as the place where runners and pacers can meet up on their own. The Facebook page would be another avenue to possibly find a pacer.
Runners looking for pacers will leave a comment below with the following information: Name, gender, where you’re traveling from, the aid station that you’re requesting a pacer to meet you at, your best guess at when you’ll be arriving at that aid station, and your anticipated running pace for the leg of the race that you’re requesting a pacer for.
Volunteer pacers will read through those that have requested pacers and “reply” to one that they would be willing to pace. If you cannot pace for the entire distance that the runner is requesting, indicate how far you can pace them, so that someone else can pick up the next leg of the run.
After runner/pacer have made the connection, they can exchange email, phone #’s, etc. I will then delete that comment thread from this page to make it easier for others to get matched up.
To be a pacer, you do not necessarily need to be familiar with the course. You do not need to be an amazing runner to be a pacer- you can get paired up with a runner that you know you can keep up with. Many runners will be running 15 min +/mile by the time they need a pacer. Pacing is also a great way for someone that is interested in running an ultramarathon in the future to get an idea of what it’s like, and it’s free of charge! You’ll be welcome to help yourself to any food/support that we offer on the course, and we’d be happy to have you come and join us at the post race celebration as well if you can make it. Don’t forget to bring your own hydration system, whether it’s a pack or handheld water bottles.

Hi – I’m looking for a pacer and/or pacers for the last 5 aid stations. Im coming from White Lake, Michigan. This will be my second 100 mile attempt. Im a 41 year old female with short legs lol- my pace by aid station #8 will be at least 15 minutes per mile.
Thanks much
Shirley Kolakovich
Hey Shirley,
I’m a 42 y/o female at 5 feet tall and planning on15 to 16 min/ miles. Maybe we should pace together at this race!
Shirely and Tawnya, i’ll probably be hanging with you girls, too, if i can’t get matched with a pacer! seems so scary to run all night…alone!:-/
sounds good:) I think you are a bit faster than us girls, so you may just keep us going at a good pace:) Looking forward to Zion!
btw, i’m a lot taller than both of you. let me know if that’s a problem. lol
Hi, I need a pacer for only 30 miles from aid station 7 to 11. I’m a slow runner so I’ll be happy to just finish before the cutoff but the goal is a sub 30hr. Thanks so much! Tawnya Dozier
Id love that! Sounds like a good match:) my email is sjkolakovich@gmail.com / cell: 586-924-2927:)
Would you guys like me to delete your thread or leave it up in case a pacer comes along?
I still could use more pacers so leaving on site would be good for me:)
agreed, I worry I might be too slow for Shirley, so I could still use a pacer.
Im excited to run with u tawnya:) – looking for more help towards the end for us:) – incase we split up, i want to make sure we have the help we need
Disregard my first post, I wasn’t thinking haha..
I’m looking for a pacer between stations 6-8. I’ll be also looking to keep a 10-16 pace as well. I’m 26 and coming from Henderson, Nevada, Thanks:) ..oh and I’m a first timer at this distance.
I am interested in a pacer from mile 61 to the finish. I hope to finish between 25 -28 hours. I am a 51 year old male math teacher from Boston. I will complain most of the way despite being an 8X Ironman veteran and a multiple VT100 and LT100 finisher. If this sounds like your kind of fun please contact me!
Hey Kelly,
I can probably do about half of that with you if you still need a pacer. Drop me a line at judburkett (at) mac dot com or 435-668-1262. – Jud
Hi, this is my first 100, and I am looking for a pacer(s) to run with me starting from the Grafton Mesa Aid Station, mile 51.5. It’ll probably take me 30 hours–my goal is to finish under the cut-off, and i am pretty confident i can do that. My first 50 took me 8:30hrs, my second took 12:30hrs. totally different courses and seasons. and that is all i have to go by. I would really love to finish, as i’ll have four little children routing for me and asking to see that buckle:) So, i really hope i can find help along the way from a, or a couple, pacer(s) along the way.
Kelly, the extra shade is always welcome!
Howdy, all!
Would love as much collective trail communion as possible. This is only my second ultra and first 100 miler – and I’m a nearly forty year old who just started running last year. I love conversation that swings between everything from fart jokes to the big life shit and the trippy ideas. I’m just about to celebrate ten years clean a sober and so returning to Utah to visit old friends in boulder and run this event are my idea of a celebration. I’ll run with anybody who would have me, but hoping most to luck into a local who might help me avoid getting lost, especially in the dark. I’m a slow running irreverent non-whiner.
Sean
Hey Sean,
It’s Quang Le here from Boston. I’m doing this with another friend, Jeanette. She’s doing 100K. We should meet up for training runs here. We usually do trails in Blue Hills. It will be my first 100 miler too.
yeah, man. let’s do it! i could use the specificity of the blue hills – i’ve been such a rookie douche just walking out my door and ticking off road miles. do you have long runs this weekend? have you done any practice night runs? get in touch: email – boybunting@gmail.com
cell – 360.951.2319
Love it! I hope you have lots of stories and jokes.
cheers
Tawnya
If you’re fine with my lack of self editing then I should be able to hold up my end of a distraction for a bunch of miles
I’d like some company during any or all of the last 50 miles. I’ll be shooting for around 11-12 min pace over the last 30 miles. Thanks, Tim
Hey Tim, I’ll join you for the last 30-50 miles. What time are you looking at finishing?
Hey Anthony, sorry for the delayed response. If I don’t hit any really bad patches or screw up, I’d like to finish between 1-2am (19-20 hours). That would be an outstanding day for me anyway. Comparing it to my San Diego run of 19hrs flat, I was ranging between 10-13 min miles over the last 20 miles or so. Please feel free to contact me at tim [at] footfeathers.com
Thanks very much!
Shirley, if I have any of my senses left when I finish, I’ll share some good stories with you (usually the stories are a my expense, so they’re extra fun).
Tim, i wish i had your pace because id run with u in a heartbeat
i bet u have some incredible 100 mile story’s
Shirley
Leadville in particular
I didn’t realize Anthony is racing zion; it’s very uncommon for two participants to be running the same pace consistently, so I’m still looking for anyone who wants to run any or all of the last 50 miles with me. I’ll be looking for an avg pace of around 11-12 min miles by that point (the last 30 miles). Thanks.
Hi All, I am looking for a pacer from mile 62 on… I am 6’4 220 lbs.. Have done 47 ultras and marathons in the last year but of the three 100 mile runs I have done, have screwed up my nutrition and bonked at 72, 90, 65 miles respectively without pacers or crew… I will be averaging between 12-15 min mile.. I just did 65 miles in the Moab 100 and am doing Mogollon Monster 100, Leadville 100 and Javelina Jundred 100 this year as well. Any help at any aid station at night would be great. I work well off of positive reinforcement, guilt and assertive personalities
I probably do well if you are an endless talker too. It takes my mind off things. You are also free to make bear sounds when i start hallucinating as well just to mess with me.. I might run faster… – Greg Unger
